Ali Williams Archilles tendon trouble rules him out of rugby for at least 6 months; injury happened 5 mins into Blues 31-21 victory over Chiefs
 
Blues lock Ali Williams is out of all rugby for at least six months after rupturing his Achilles tendon during his side's 31-21 pre-season victory over the Chiefs.

Williams was on the field for less than five minutes when the injury occurred. Coach Pat Lam feels for him after he spent much of last season on the sidelines with the same injury.

"It's a tragedy for Ali and the effort he's put in to get himself right. He was just fizzing to get out there today. It's just a real blow to him and to the team. He going to be hard to replace."

The Hurricanes got through their 26-5 pre-season victory over the Brumbies without any serious injuries.

The Crusaders have been beaten 20-12 by the Reds in Brisbane.
