Foamie, I think the black background makes it very hard to read text. Also, the narrow width seems to cut into the avatars and make reading difficult as well.    The previous format was great. ;)

I am in the communiction business and you never never put type on a dark backgound it is impossible to read.

I have to say that I've changed my settings but still prefer it the way it was before yesterday.

Once I got use to the layout I found the new board up until yesterday heaps better than the old one. A good mix of the old with the new. At the moment I'm still trying to get use to this one so it may prove better once I get through the teething process, but initial impressions are the one before. Sorry, I don't know there names, hence all the this one, that one, old one, new one etc.

I think my main thing is that I can't find the 'View new posts since you last visit' link. To perhaps my detriment this is how I navigate through the site. I enter, read everything that was posted since my last visit, comment in the ones where I think I'll embarrass myself the least and leave. I do this a couple of times a day obviously. So if I had this link obvious on the front page, I wouldn't care what the format is.

I hear you  :thanx:

Please, have patience .. I know it is a pain in the rear at the mo .. but I am trying to find the right mix and have to test the board, with individual components, and make them work together .. and yes I liked the initial version better .. too, so I may write my own portal page instead of trying out all these other ones ;D

Foamie, The appearance of the site is really becoming professional. The colors are terrific. The banner is the best you've ever had. The buttons and tabs are very functional. The text is easy to read. And, once you get to the forum the format is great. I don't know about everyone else, but I look at recent posts first or go to the unread posts when I first log on. One thing I might suggest for the portal page is a more obvious button/way to get to the forum.  I really like the "outline" navigator above the posts etc, once you get past the portal page, it's brilliant.  :hoppers:

Also, my guess is you had to make a choice about having more than one "column" on the portal page and subsequent pages in order to get the member name, avatar, search, news in a column. However, my preference is for the widest possible area for post "text" as it makes for easier reading. Therefore, maybe member info, search, news etc. could be placed across (horizontally) the portal page, perhaps under or over your greeting, but below the Kiwirugby banner.

Please don't take these comments as criticism, as the site gets better every day. In fact, as far as I'm concerned it's the very best on the internet.  :wow: :yipyep:
